Eight million tons of plastic flow into the ocean every year, and straws comprise just 0.025 percent of that. Although the global statistics on straw usage are staggering, they are only a small part of a large plastic waste problem. Indeed what is a major problem is all the plastic waste going into our oceans and the unsustainable and unlawful fishing practices that are damaging marine ecosystems and the health of our oceans. And as a result, putting our survival on the planet at risk.
